~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do You Have Positive Energy? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once in a while you come across people whose intellect and talent is so incredible that you are left in absolute amazement. For us, Dr. Judith Orloff is such a person! This week, it is with the utmost pleasure that The Weekly Beet reports on Positive Energy, written by one of the most fabulous women on the scene of alternative medicine today.
We have long been a fan of Dr. Orloff since her first book, Guide to Intuitive Healing, came out in 2001. You can only imagine how ecstatic we were when we spoke to Dr. Orloff about her latest book, Positive Energy. Don't know who Dr. Orloff is? A true visionary and pioneer in her field, Dr. Orloff is a board-certified psychiatrist and assistant professor of psychiatry at UCLA. She stands out, as she has taken psychiatry to another level by incorporating intuition and spirituality, two aspects often left out of mainstream medicine, into her work. She is a practicing intuitive empath who teaches her patients the importance of tapping into the inner voice that holds the answers to life's mysteries. Orloff wrote an entire book on intuition called Guide To Intutive Healing. We highly recommend it as well!
The topic of our interview was primarily on Positive Energy, which contains 10 Prescriptions For Transforming Fatigue, Stress, and Fear Into Vibrance, Strength, and Love. In the book, Orloff introduces us to Energy Psychiatry, a term she coined to describe "a new kind of psychotherapy I practice that addresses the subtle energetic underpinnings of health and behavior." (page 2, Positive Energy) What we were most excited about was her Third Prescription: Design an Energy-Aware Approach To Diet, Fitness, and Health. Orloff explained to us it is vital we find the right foods to give us energy. The key to doing this is listening and feeling the body's reaction to certain foods. This involves a simple exercise to try the next time you are at the supermarket. Head for the vegetable section as all fruits and vegetables contain more energy than canned and packaged foods. Test a tomato verses string beans or broccoli. Hold each food in your hand and feel how your body reacts. You may need to take a few breaths and close your eyes. Do you feel more energetic? Do you feel numb? Does your body feel drawn to the food? Really try to tune into how your body feels when holding each food. Sound silly? We think it's the coolest thing EVER!!! Who cares if your shopping neighbor finds it bizarre! You will be much too busy having a conversation with your inner voice to notice.
Click here to find out what Dr. Orloff says about why diets fail. We think she's right on target! This is an excellent article and one that shouldn't be missed. Also, you can click here to purchase Positive Energy. The book is just absolutely unBEETable. A special thank you to Dr. Orloff for being such an inspiration. We applaud you on your work.
Don't miss a Beet. Next week we report from Tinseltown.
Love,
Mary Kent
